  • 4 people are interested

Humans of Minneapolis (HOM), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, encourages empathy and builds community through storytelling. We are currently seeking Graphic Design Volunteers to help promote our activities and expand our brand.

Our work sheds light on marginalized voices and uplifts the storyteller, while providing an opportunity for our audience to hear perspectives that are often ignored or overlooked. Our goal is a culture in Minneapolis (and beyond) that is more compassionate, open-minded, and inclusive.

Reports to: Executive Director

HOM’s Executive Director is a former Graphic Design instructor at MCTC, so this would be ideal for a student or someone wanting to add "real world" work to their portfolio. Volunteers will be credited for their work whenever possible on HOM social media pages.

  • Design logos, print material, and social media content to promote HOM activities
  • Maintain consistency of brand and mission

Qualifications:

  • Excellent graphic design and typography skills
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Able to meet agreed-upon deadlines
  • Hand-drawn typography skills a huge plus

TO APPLY: Fill out our volunteer application form at humansofminneapolis.org/volunteer.

Mission Statement

Humans of Minneapolis connects hearts & minds through storytelling to encourage empathy and build community. HOM’s core values include the following: Connection: We understand the transformative potential of individual human interactions. Unity: We believe the things we have in common are more powerful than the things that divide us. Diversity: We appreciate that we all have unique perspectives and consider our differences to be assets. By tapping the power of storytelling to share first-person narratives, we inspire change on an individual level by expanding the viewer’s understanding of how different people navigate the ups and downs of life. Our goal is a culture in Minneapolis (and beyond) that is more compassionate, open-minded, and inclusive.

Description

There are three branches to our work:

Community engagement: We share diverse personal narratives that build bridges of understanding.

Collaboration: We develop partnerships that harness complementary strengths.

Events: We do talks, teach workshops, and create social spaces that foster meaningful connections.
