ORGANIZATION: Regional Hospice and Family Care

NOT ACTIVE DURING THE PANDEMIC. BUT IF YOU'RE STILL INTERESTED IN THIS OPPORTUNITY WHEN WE'RE ALL ALLOWED BACK INTO FACILITIES, PLEASE REACH OUT.
Make a positive difference in the life of an actively dying hospice patient! As a Vigil Volunteer, you provide comfort and create a peaceful presence for the patient at bedside when the patient's death is imminent(actively dying). Whether it’s just sitting bedside with the patient, listening to music, watching tv, or holding their hand--physically being there for them will help put the patient at ease and keep them from feeling alone during their last days!

Availability: As a Vigil Volunteer, you will be "on-call". When a patient is declared imminent by one of our nurses, our team will give you a call and ask if you can sit with the patient so that they won't feel alone. If a patient's family can't physically be there while the patient is imminent, you will provide that presence and ease of mind for the patient and their family!

Brookdale Hospice provides the patient an individualized program of physical, emotional, and practical care with emphasis on pain control and symptom management. Our program is a reflection of our spirit of caring because we emphasize comfort, dignity, and respect. We believe that centering our focus on both the patient and the family enables us to provide the best care.
