MISSION : The Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) inspires and empowers Denver Public School students to enroll in and graduate from institutions of higher education by providing the tools, knowledge and financial resources essential for success.


TITLE OF POSITION : Scholarship Program Intern (unpaid, but we are open to exploring possible college credit).


SUPERVISED BY : Director of Scholarships


PURPOSE OF JOB : The Scholarship Program Intern will work as an integral part of the Scholarship Team to assist in the development and implementation of ongoing improvements to DSF’s scholarship program, with specific attention to: (1) Scholar resources, (2) Scholar outreach and communication, and (3) Research and evaluation.


DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :

  • Attend a DSF Volunteer Orientation
  • Assist with creating and sending student communications
  • Make phone calls and/or send emails to DSF Finalists to remind them about scholarship deadlines, offer support, and explain needed follow-up actions
  • Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of scholar events
  • Assist with scholarship research and ensure that other scholar resources are updated
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of student data (enrollment, academic, demographic, graduation, etc.) for past, present and prospective DSF Scholars
  • Research and report on scholarship-related themes and assist with preparation of presentations or reports
  • Data entry
  • Other duties as assigned

COMMITMENT REQUIRED : 2-8 hours per week. Opportunities available Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., year-round (summer and academic-year internships available).


QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite; advanced computer skills, website development knowledge (especially WordPress), and social media knowledge a plus
  • Confident in writing and editing documents and collateral materials
  • Able to work independently with guidance from a supervisor
  • Reliable, responsible and punctual
  • Good organizational and communication skills, patience and attention to detail
  • Background check required
  • Flexible and adjusts well to change

ORIENTATION AND TRAINING PROVIDED : Volunteer Orientations are held monthly and are required as an overview and first step for DSF Volunteers and Interns. Task-specific training will be provided.

The Denver Scholarship Foundation was created in 2006 by private donors and community leaders to help Denver Public School students achieve their educational goals by providing students with guidance and financial support.

In addition to providing scholarships to Denver Public Schools graduates, the Denver Scholarship Foundation provides postsecondary guidance and resources through Future Centers and College and Financial Aid Advisors within DPS high schools.
