Middle School Transition for English Language Learner (MTELL) Tutor

MTELL seeks dedicated and responsible volunteers to tutor 6th, 7th and 8th grade immigrant and refugee students in literacy and math during after school hours between 2:30-4:30PM.
Tutoring sessions will take place Tuesdays & Thursdays at H.B Lee MS in NE Portland. An interview, orientation and background check are required.
Qualifications:
- Experience with and/or interest in working with youth - Availability during after school hours - Prior tutoring or teaching experience useful, but not required - Commitment to working with diverse populations and non-native English speakers - Arabic, Spanish, Somali, Burmese, Karen Language ability helpful, but not required.
Time Commitment:
Volunteers must commit to working a minimum of 2 hours per week for at least 8 weeks from April- June 2020.
