The Volunteer Crisis Call Operator is responsible for answering calls received at our FJC Georgetown office.
Our office hours are Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
We are seeking volunteers to handle crisis calls after completing the official volunteer orientation and crisis call training.
Shifts are available. 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and/or 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The Volunteer Crisis Line operator provides documentation for all calls received and reports crisis sheet/s to FJC staff once call is completed.
We are seeking volunteers/interns with the following:
- Punctuality and reliability
- Strong listening skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all FJC policies and procedures.
- A non-judgmental manner
- Ability to commit to volunteering 4 or more hours per week.
- Commit to attend mandatory crisis call training and volunteer meetings.

The mission of the Family Justice Center is to reduce the injuries and deaths resulting from domestic violence. We partner with local agencies to provide comprehensive, coordinated services to victims of domestic violence and educational programs for our community.
Description
The Family Justice Center is the principal provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services in both Georgetown and Horry Counties, South Carolina serving over 850 people annually. We provide victims of domestic abuse and their families with comprehensive support and resources including access to a 24 hour crisis hotline, individual and group counseling, case management, legal advocacy and emergency shelter. We also offer public awareness and educational programs in our efforts to create a community with zero tolerance for domestic violence.
