The COVID-19 pandemic has forced Opera NOVA to adapt to times we never had before. Opera NOVA is looking for Board members who want to guide the company through these unusual and difficult times. In addition, we are looking for a younger member(s) in high school or college who can speak for their generation. The job of directors is to provide leadership for the company through making sound financial, administrative, and artistic decisions relevant to the company.
Individuals with strong organizational skills are encouraged to talk with us. Ideal for those who are in or near retirement, have a wealth of professional experience in areas requiring leadership, management, and direction, and a love or an interest in opera and/or its constituent arts.
If you are interested in this challenge, i.e., someone who is concerned about the decline of the civic role of opera and the classical cultural arts in Northern Virginia and the greater DC area, please contact the Opera NOVA offices at mcdm1@verizon.net or (703) 536-7557. Our website is at https://www.operanova.net.More opportunities with Opera NOVA

Mission Statement
Opera NOVA works to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.
Description
Opera NOVA was founded in 1992 as a volunteer-based, non-profit charitable organization to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.
The Guild is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has been recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) entity.
Over the years, Opera NOVA has offered major financial support for an annual family opera that is attended by school children during week day performances and by children with their families and community-based organizations on weekends. Because of our efforts, 50,000 school-aged children, many of whom would not have the opportunity otherwise, have attended an opera. The performances not only offer children a unique opportunity to hear an opera sung in English, but they also learn about various opera and theatre techniques, from special effects to the intricacies of set and lighting design.
