Become a Lunch @ the Library Support Team Member!
Do you want to make a difference for children in your community? Then please consider joining the Lunch @ the Library program this summer as a Support Team Member.
Lunch @ the Library
Children who are eligible to receive a free lunch at school often go hungry during the summer when school is out. The Lunch @ the Library program provides a free healthy meal to kids 18 and under at 15 of our libraries,
- Carmichael
- Colonial Heights
- Del Paso
- Elk Grove
- Fair Oaks
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
- North Highlands/Antelope
- North Sacramento/Hagginwood
- Orangevale
- Rancho Cordova
- Rio Linda
- Southgate
- Sylvan
- Valley Hi/North Laguna
Responsibilities
- Set up the meal service area, count meals, and serve lunch
- Track how many meals are served
- Maintain a clean site before, during, and after meal service
- Play games, read, and do crafts with children
- Clean up at the end of meal service
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Ability to interact in a positive and supportive manner with children, teens, and adults
- Organized
- Must be able to stand, sit, walk, bend and stoop for extended periods of time
- Ability to life 10 pounds
- Attend training before the program starts
- Parental/Legal guardian Authorization to Volunteer form if under 18 years of age
- Complete a Live Scan background check if age 18 years or older
