Join the Volunteer Committee for The Longest Day - a do-it-yourself fundraiser that is fun, unique and creative! The team will meet predominately via teleconference every month! The Longest Day(r) is the day with the most light - the summer solstice. And it’s the day the Alzheimer’s Association(r) calls on everyone to fight Alzheimer’s disease by raising funds and awareness for care, support and research. Thousands of participants across the world will come together and stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s through an activity of their choice.

Join our Volunteer Committee to help recruit participants, provide coaching on fundraising and event planning, and spread the word about this exciting event. We’ll help you find a role that fits your interests, skills and schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Attend the Committee Orientation.
• Participate in regular committee meetings either in person or over the phone.
• Register for a fundraising activity and recruit others to join you on The Longest Day.
• Select a subcommittee that best fits your skills and interests: Recruitment, Engagement or Marketing and Outreach.

Don’t know which subcommittee to join? No problem! Here is a brief overview of the different opportunities:

Recruitment: Are you a strong leader or a strategic networker? Are you comfortable asking others to join the cause? If so, this might be the role for you! We are looking for volunteers who are willing to tap into their networks to recruit fundraising leaders, plan and execute an event and talk to a variety of people about The Longest Day!

Engagement: Could you consider yourself a friendly people person? Are you skilled at creating meaningful connections? Do you think you could provide participants with fundraising tips, execute plans, and engage fundraisers through regular communication? If you answered yes to these questions then engagement might be the committee for you!

Marketing and Outreach: Are you a social media master, or a great communicator? Do you have knowledge or connections to local media outlets? If yes, then consider joining this committee! The marketing and outreach committee works to identify opportunities to promote The Longest Day in the community through traditional and digital communication channels as well as with local businesses and community centers.
