Give an Hour Providers (licensed mental health professionals) are volunteers who set aside one session per week for one year to provide no cost care to military, veterans and loved ones or victims of manmade or natural disaster. Services may be provided by phone, in person, or using HIPAA compliant video counseling platform.

Tennessee Tornado 2020: As with many other previous natural disasters of this magnitude, Give an Hour is opening its network of volunteer mental health professionals to help with the critical need to provide FREE mental health services to those experiencing trauma, loss, grief, and anxiety. The trauma of witnessing the destruction of one’s home and community or losing loved ones can give rise to anxiety and depression. The long period of rebuilding perpetuates people’s feelings of uncertainty and chronic stress and loss of control. Give an Hour has the expertise to help those in need now and in the future. We will remain available and accessible months and years into the future as Nashville and the surrounding affected communities rebuild and heal.

A provider is NOT required to provide clinical care to serve with Give an Hour, however all providers are required to hold a license in their state. Not all mental health professionals will have a client all year, and not all providers choose to give therapy hours as their time! Licensed volunteers may also opt to participate in other methods of support such as support groups, supporting emotionally impactful events, outreach to professional networks, speaking opportunities and more.
