We are looking for volunteers who have childcare experience. Each month we offer training classes and support groups for our foster and adoptive families. During these sessions, our agency families are offered free childcare to make it easier for them to attend. Our childcare volunteers get to love, care for and play with the foster and adoptive children during this time.
Please note that standard clearances are required. Most training and support groups take place on weeknights and weekends.
The adult sessions and childcare rooms are always at the same location, usually located in rooms right next to one another. This allows children to relax, knowing their parents are nearby. And it also allows caregivers to communicate quickly and directly with parents if they need something.
Childcare is always staffed according to registration to ensure adequate supervision. Volunteers are released or confirmed two weeks prior to the event date.

Description
The Salvation Army Foster Care Program provides for the temporary care for children and youth who are unable to remain in their own homes and are placed in the custody of the county children and youth agencies. The children are placed with foster parents, who are committed to providing a safe, temporary home for children who have been abused and neglected and are unable to remain living in their own homes. The program serves children Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Berks Counties. The Adoption Program provides services to potential adoptive families and children through the Statewide Adoption Network (SWAN) and also provides services for private adoption home studies. Many of the referrals are for children within our own foster care program that become available for adoption and are adopted by their foster parents.
