The Veteran-to-Veteran Program aims to pair recruited Veteran Volunteers with Veteran Hospice Patients. Veterans are a part of a distinct culture with their own language, codes of conduct, honor, respect for service, duty, and commitment. When Veterans interact, their common language and experiences can form a strong relational bond.
Examples of direct patient support may include: Reading or sitting with a patient Reminiscing/telling life stories Writing letters/journaling Taking part in Veteran recognition ceremonies

At CHRISTUS VNA Hospice - San Antonio, we are more than an organization of hospice professionals - we are proud members of communities across Texas. Compassionate, quality service is our mission. And to us, service means getting to know our patients on a personal level.
Each patient and family we are privileged to serve is unique. Our ongoing mission is to design a specific plan to help you or your loved one live as fully and comfortably as possible in the final stages of life - in the comfort of your own home or place of residence.
Under the direct supervision of your physician, our highly skilled hospice professionals deliver quality, compassionate care. We also include family in the process, offering valuable information, guidance and - most of all - support.
