ORGANIZATION: Children's Creativity Museum

Are you interested in exploring museum education, working with children ages 2-12, developing leadership and teaching skills, or great mentorship? The Children's Creativity Museum's Education Internship can provide you with all of the above and more! Whether you've never worked with children before or have a passion for it, are a seasoned educator or want more experience, this internship will be able to help you achieve your related goals.

Organizational Description:

The Children’s Creativity Museum in San Francisco is an innovative art and technology

experience for children ages 2-12 and their families. Our mission is to nurture creativity and collaboration in all children and families. We believe that creative expression, innovation, and critical thinking are core to fostering the next generation.

Commitment:

  • Minimum 14 hours per week (9:00- 4:30 two days per week) + Monday’s in June
  • Orientation is Monday, June 1st, 2020
  • First day working with visitors can be Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020
  • Applicants must be able to commit to the full internship from Monday, June 1st, 2020 through the Sunday August 16th, 2020 (However, early departure can be arranged)
  • Mondays in June 9:00-4:30 are mandatory along with at least one two other full days during the week (or two four half days)
  • Summer intern applications will be accepted on a rolling basis starting 2/14/20
  • The last day to apply is May 26th, 2020

General Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Summer Field Trip experiences for children ages Pre K--8th grade in Inspiration Studio
  • Work with Educators and Volunteers during General Admission hours to teach basic, intermediate and advanced art and technology skills to youth and families in our Animation Studio, Community lab, Tech Lab, Music Studio, Imagination Lab, and Innovation Lab.
  • Assist Educators in Early Childhood Art Camps, Theatre Camps, or Girls in S.T.E.A.M Camp
  • Help facilitate special pop up programming for visitors and help educators with special projects related to museum curriculum and operations
  • Prepare, maintain and troubleshoot equipment and supplies in the exhibit/production areas; identify and report the status of exhibits and supplies
  • Responsible for opening and closing the museum floor and reporting on all issues related to running the museum

Compensation:

  • Unpaid
  • College credit when applicable
  • Travel Stipend of $280 offered in bi-weekly payments of $40

  • Training in the facilitation of six different dynamic exhibit spaces
  • Training in the facilitation of two different Summer field trips
  • Learn how to use Istopmotion for Stop motion animation, Blockly for Robot Coding,
  • Garageband for songwriting and sounds effects, a wide variety of musical tools and electronic music equipment for music making, as well as other innovative processes.
  • A look into the behind the scenes of a leading Children’s Museum
  • Training in public speaking, team work, and behavior management.

  • Applicants must be able to attend Monday Training days in June + 14 hours minimum for the summer
  • Summer intern applications will be accepted on a rolling basis starting 2/14/20
  • The last day to apply is May 26th, 2020
  • Promising applicants will be invited for an interview and tour of the Children's Creativity Museum
