Thank you for expressing your interest in becoming a Volunteer for S.Y.STEM Coalition-Pittsburgh!

Who We Are:

At S.Y.STEM Coalition our mission is to help all kids succeed through education. As a non-profit organization fueled by dedicated volunteers, our goal is to help inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, business professionals, and doctors. We believe all students deserve the opportunity to thrive in the wonderful world of STEM, so we handcrafted educational, free, and low-cost STEM events and programs for students and their families to attend within their community.

Who We Serve:

We serve K-12 students of all backgrounds.

What We Offer:

With our recent expansion to the Pittsburgh area, we look forward to making valuable connections with STEM professionals eager to join our mission of shaping and developing the next generation STEM workforce. Our Site Visit program is specially designed to offer the following opportunities for students at two stages:

Stage 1: Classroom Visits

S.Y.STEM Coalition would like to provide students the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of STEM fields and careers. This opportunity allows our volunteers to share their experiences with students inside the classroom. Potential volunteers will be asked to organize a PowerPoint(r)presentation and a hands-on activity or visual demonstration showcasing their area of STEM.

Stage 2: Site Visits

S.Y.STEM Coalition would like to partner with Pittsburgh’s most innovative businesses to show students what a career in STEM looks like. Classes of students would have the opportunity to tour key manufacturing, research and development and technology sites. We hope to provide not just a field trip, but an entire educational experience meant to enrich educational experiences for students inside and outside of the classroom.

About S.Y.STEM Coalition

Location:

Mission Statement

Lead the coalition of industry and education to steer youth to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through experience-based learning.

Description

A little about SYSTEM Coalition: we started 5 years ago in Tucson, AZ. Six exceptionally talented and motivated people who wanted to give back to the community by helping k-12 students find a passion for STEM. We saw all of the poverty in our city and realized if just one of those kids from that community was able to get a great paying job in STEM, they could not only help themselves but also help their whole family break the cycle of poverty! Now the organization has over 100 volunteers, chapters in 4 different cities and growing! More than anything, being a part of this amazing organization has shown me that you really CAN change the world, one step at a time!
