ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk: Rockland County

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: ZERO Prostate Cancer-HQ

COVID-19 Event Rescheduled/Postponed: Due to rising concerns regarding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), ZERO has made the decision to reschedule the Rockland County Run/Walk. The Run/Walk will now take place on Sunday, October 18 at our originally planned venue, Rockland Lake State Park.

Due to the gravity of the present global public health issue, ZERO must do our part to act responsibly and protect our community. The safety of our participants, volunteers, community, and staff is our top priority.

If you’ve already registered, your registration will be moved to the new date automatically.

Please email races@zerocancer.org with any questions and one of our team members will get back to you.

While COVID-19 has transformed our world, one thing will never change: we’re coming together on October 18 to support patients and families through this crisis and celebrate community.

We need you more than ever! Whatever format changes may come, the funds you raise will provide direct help for patients who have nowhere else to turn during this crisis. Our Run/Walks now have two options, so that everyone can to participate safely:

Virtual: Take action to fundraise: at home, in your neighborhood, or around the community, the only limit is your imagination! Then join us on October 18 for an inspiring day of celebration, support, and honoring patients, survivors, and caregivers.

In-Person: As of today, in-person Run/Walks are still planned with additional measures to ensure participant’s safety in October. If stay-at-home orders require the Valley Cottage Run/Walk to become fully virtual, all run/walker participants will be automatically converted to a virtual participant and their registration fees will be displayed as a donation on their personal pages.

This year's event features a 5K run/walk, 1 mile walk, Kids' Superhero Dash for Dad, and Snooze for Dudes (Virtual Race). The 5K will be chip-timed, and top finishers medals will be awarded. 5K and 1 Mile participants will receive a tech shirt, and Kid's Dash participants will get a fun cape. All participants are eligible to earn fundraising rewards, and are invited to enjoy the race day celebration featuring snacks and family-friendly activities.

ZERO Prostate Cancer is the leading national nonprofit with the mission to end prostate cancer and help all who are impacted. ZERO advances research, provides support, and creates solutions to achieve health equity to meet the most critical needs of our community.

Description

ZERO has been on the front lines fighting for a cure for more than twenty years. Together, we’ve made a significant impact on the fight against the disease. ZERO is also rated 4-stars by Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator.

ZERO offers comprehensive support for prostate cancer patients. Starting with education, we provide millions of men and families with disease information through our website, printed materials, videos, and webinars.
Our ZERO360 team of experienced case managers help patients access financial resources, cut through insurance and Medicare red tape, and find emotional support. For men with advanced prostate cancer who could not afford treatment, our financial assistance program provided grants to more than 48,000 men.

We pioneered mobile testing for prostate cancer, alerting men across the nation to lifesaving information and reducing prostate cancer mortality rates through early detection. We continue to support early detection and free testing with local partners across the country.

The ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk Series is the nation’s largest event series dedicated to men’s health. For more than a decade, the series has helped raise awareness and unite men and their families across the country as a powerful force in the fight against prostate cancer.
