Volunteer Nature Guides split their time between LCM’s outdoor spaces and the indoor galleries that focus on environmental science and nature. When outside, Volunteer Nature Guides facilitate (or assist with facilitation) of hands-on activities, including Nature Walks, Bird Watching and more. When stationed inside, Volunteer Nature Guides enthusiastically facilitate exploration and play with museum visitors (children and caregivers) in galleries including: Dig Into Nature; Move With The River. Volunteers engage with children and facilitate learning of nature and STEM content/concepts, encourage safe play, and assist with resetting exhibits. Description
The Louisiana Children's Museum was founded in 1986. The museum was located in the Warehouse District until 2019, when we opened our new 8.5 acre location in City Park! Our gallery spaces focus on Literacy, Environment, Arts & Culture, and Health & Wellness. Louisiana Children's Museum promotes hands-on, participatory learning for children ages birth to 8 years. Encouraging discovery through observation, inquiry, creative construction, role-playing, problem-solving, and free-play, the Museum motivates children to develop their cognitive, physical and social skills while enjoying fruitful interaction with adults and peers.
Do you like fun and the sound of laughter? How about helping kids discover their immense potential? Louisiana Children's Museum welcomes volunteers for a wide range of roles including assisting with learning and play experiences our galleries, education programs, special events, admin, maintenance and other roles! We currently have youth (15+) and adult volunteer opportunities.
