The Spay/Neuter Clinic Administrative Assistant serves to assist the spay/neuter staff and veterinarian with the daily flow of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with clients in a professional manner
- Enter client/patient data into the computer and perform other related computer functions
- Prepare/process all forms and paperwork required for intake and discharge of animals
- Accurately prepare all client records and client invoices
- Educate clients on spay/neuter procedure and policy
- Schedule spay/neuter appointments with clients over the phone
- Make appointment reminder calls
Time Commitment:
- Weekly or biweekly shifts are available.
- We ask each volunteer to make a six-month minimum commitment, but we hope you stay longer!
- 2-4 hour shifts are available between 8am-5pm Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at the Oakland Spay Neuter Clinic.
- Shifts are available from 9am-12pm or 1pm-3pm on Wednesdays at the Dublin Spay Neuter Clinic
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Competent with office-based computer programs
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable working with the public
- Some familiarity with basic veterinary medical concepts preferred
- Wear name tag and closed toed shoes at all times
Location: The Spay Neuter Clinic Administrative Assistant position is available at two locations:
- Oakland Spay Neuter Clinic: 410 Hegenberger Rd, Oakland, CA
- Dublin Spay Neuter Clinic: 4651 Gleason Drive, Dublin, CA
- Both locations have parking available onsite.

The East Bay SPCA has been an innovator in animal welfare for over 149 years providing shelter, health care, and adoption services for unwanted animals since 1874. We are committed to finding homes for adoptable cats and dogs, providing affordable veterinary and spay/neuter services, and educating the public on responsible pet ownership. We are the oldest animal welfare organization in the East Bay and operate two animal shelters and three clinics, serving Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
