We are looking for a Gaelic-speaking volunteer who could call an Irish-born gentleman who lives in California.
Preventative measures for COVID-19 are resulting in closures and cancellations of many programs for older adults. While this cooperative effort reduces the spread and speed of COVID-19’s impact it takes a significant toll on already socially isolated older adults.
Battling isolation can be quite challenging, and the impacts are significant - studies show isolation is equivalent to the health impact of smoking 15 cigarettes a day. As you can imagine now is the time we are doubling our efforts to reach out to our most isolated population. Can you help?
Social Call is a free friendly visitor program that matches volunteers with older adults for weekly social interactions. We are looking for compassionate, capable individuals to help out from the comfort of their home to volunteer to give a friendly, 20-30 minute phone call to someone in need
