Our free after-school program offers children an exciting and educational arts program that includes fun art lessons and projects, games and activities and a health snack.

As an art facilitator you would help our program team to design and select art activities and lead a small group of children in completing the activity. Help us prepare program materials, assist children and youth with their art activities, and provide one-on-one support!

Mission Statement

To provide free arts education to children and youth, that builds confidence, explores positive self- expression, and fosters leadership for community-level change.

Description

Art City in St. James Town provides free after-school and summer art programming for children and youth in St. James Town. Our arts-based programming educates young artists on techniques in a variety of media and leverages art as a tool to help foster confidence, positive self-expression and a desire for life-long learning!

Art City was established in St. James Town in 2000, when a group of local artists and educators banded together to establish an arts education space for youth. Recognizing a deep need for community resources, these artists took inspiration from Art City in Winnipeg and began by providing free drop-in arts classes for the community’s children and youth.

In the past 20 years, Art City has grown to providing after-school arts programming to nearly 100 children weekly. Since 2000, the number of children and youth impacted by Art City art education programming is enduring/immeasurable. Through its programming, Art City has completed several public mural projects, reflecting the beauty, individuality and diversity of our community.
