Social Media Instagram and Twitter Engagement Volunteer Needed in Detroit Area

Overview:

We are looking for volunteers who can help primarily during weekends and sometimes during the week to create interactions between the National MS Society from the @mssociety and @bike_MS Instagram and Twitter profiles and social users who tag the Society or use brand hashtags in their posts to build a relationship with constituents, strengthen the content we post, and increase followers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Like and sometimes comment on social posts from social users that tag the Society or use Society branded hashtags or related hashtags, during the weekends.
• Identify and flag interesting content (using the "Save to Collection" icon), and share with staff, for items that could be used on the Society’s Instagram feed as a regram of user generated content
• Increase the number of followers by engaging with related hashtag content and branded hashtags

Education and Support

• A presentation/demonstration of how to like, comment, discover new followers will be provided.
• A list of the hashtags that we engage with will be provided.
• Additional social media training can be provided, time-permitting.
• A member of the social media team will keep consistent contact with volunteer to discuss findings and provide ideas/feedback/appreciation for help.

Qualifications & Time Commitment

• Current and/or past experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instragram, etc) for a business or an organization and an understanding of engaging on social media
• Time for the assignment is ongoing. Requires approximately one to two hours during the weekends. Potential for further help during the week in the evenings or as time permits with volunteer’s schedule.
• Must have own smartphone and unlimited data plan or wi-fi to access Instagram
• Work can be done off-site and from home.

Impact

• Through engagement on Instagram and Twitter, we help connect social users to the Society and it gives us an additional opportunity to show appreciation from the Society. It also allows us to meet our constituents where they are at - in this case, Instagram and Twitter.
• Help the Society’s social media team increase followers 7% in 2020.
