The Senior Companion Program of the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities serves only adults with developmental disabilities. Through their special caring, Senior Companions provide needed support for adults with developmental disabilities so they can maintain or gain new levels of independence. The Senior Companions foster socialization,daily living skills, and integration into the neighborhoods.
As a companion to adults with developmental disabilities in the NYS OPWDD SCP, Senior Companions interact socially through leisure time activities and nurture each person's potential through activities of daily living.
Terms: Volunteer must be at least 55 years of age, Volunteer must meet income eligibility requirement
Benefits: Meals, Accident / Liability, Transportation Costs, Stipend, Training
Other Information Requested of Volunteers: Does the SC need transportation?
