Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: HomePlate Youth Services

  • 4 people are interested

Every Thursday, HomePlate volunteer groups prepare and serve dinner to over 35 youth who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability in Hillsboro.

The Dinner Manager supports HomePlate volunteer dinner groups at our Thursday night dinner by preparing the kitchen for the dinner group, orienting the group to the expectations for the evening, ensuring adherence to health code rules and providing support to the group throughout the night.
We are seeking a volunteer with strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and understanding of food and kitchen safety.

Groups normally arrive between 4:30 and 5:15pm, but the Host would need to come at least 15 minutes before to help prepare the kitchen, so about 4:15pm on early days. Additionally, the Host will help to direct volunteers in the clean up process once dinner is over. Our youth leave at 8:00pm and the kitchen is finished cleaning by 8:30pm (though typically earlier).
