The TrainTopia docent may have the most interaction with museum visitors. This one-of-a-kind experience features running G-scale trains on a 2,500 sq. ft. layout, a custom light show which takes the exhibit from daylight to nighttime, from Arizona to Dallas in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

The main task is to maintain the integrity of the layout. Barriers are in place but extra supervision is a plus. You will share your knowledge of the layout, assist with the scavenger hunts, and share information about the museum. Do not worry, the museum will provide training.

Model railroad experience is not a requirement. However, you may provide interested guests information on your experience in the hobby.

The position can produce long periods of time on your feet but an authentic railroad station bench provides a place to sit.

If willing, we like to train all volunteers to handle transactions in a pinch and be comfortable doing a brief tour outside if called upon.
