Calling all mechanics- we need your time and expertise! Put your professional mechanic skills to good use helping victims and children! Families to Freedom provides long-distance transportation for victims of domestic abuse to get to safety with family or shelter outside of the DFW area.
We’re looking for a mechanically inclined person or two to help keep our vehicles maintained and running efficiently. We have no tools or garage so work would be done at a location of your choice and at your own schedule. We’ll pay for parts and fluids. Activities may include easy fluid and filter changes, changing tires, diagnosing engine codes, proposing maintenance to make the vehicle run more efficiently, and resolving easy issues.
Repairs would be on an as-needed basis. Retired or current mechanics preferred. Clean driving record required with background check after volunteer orientation.

Description
Families to Freedom provides free transportation services to victims and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. We make it possible for victims and new survivors to get far away from abusive relationships. Our life-saving services include car rides to domestic violence shelters across the region, road trips to family homes in other states, multi-state bus tickets, and fuel assistance to relocate far away. We serve victims and new survivors across North Texas, East Texas, and the Gulf Coast area. We drive over 900 victims and children each year between two offices located in Dallas and Houston. We rely on the generous support of the community to continue providing these services at no cost to the victims who call us.
