Community Team
Our job is to show the world what the San Diego tech community has to offer-we connect, we educate, we inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. We approach community-building in an organic, grassroots fashion, leveraging existing contacts and established organizations to spread the word about our mission.
Role
As the University Liaison, you will be responsible for managing the relationships between Startup San Diego and all colleges and universities in the ecosystem, leveraging existing contacts and forging new connections to engage educational institutions with our organization. You will work closely with the Director of Community on these tasks and others as assigned by your Director.
Responsibilities
- Establish and expand relationships with colleges and universities via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
- Develop and manage a communications pipeline between the Programs team and educational institutions, in accordance with event timelines.
- Work with the Director of Community and the Executive Director to cultivate and nurture partnerships with colleges and universities that further the mission of the organization.
- Ensure that key deliverables are provided to our college and university partners in a timely manner.
- Represent Startup San Diego at ecosystem events to enhance our connection to the entrepreneurial community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in managing sales processes and accounts.
- Ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using Hubspot or another modern CRM.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to commit to 5 - 10 hrs/week for a one-year term.
Preferred Qualifications & Qualities
- Experience with event planning.
- Experience with community building, ideally in the startup space.
- Knowledge of local higher education systems.
- Experience working with students.
- Account management experience.
- A "no-ego," collaborative doer.
- Anchored in supporting and growing the entrepreneurial community in San Diego.
