Thank you for your interest in volunteering with United Way! Because of you, we are able to help many clients and nonprofits around the Bay area.

Do you enjoy sharing about your background, career journey, and industry? If so, this opportunity is for you!

We are partnering with the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) to host a Virtual Career Panel where 5 volunteers will serve 10-15 young adults from the Oakland-area. Figuring out a career path is hard for most people (especially youth of color) and systemic barriers make it even more difficult to expand their network to gain careers and important advice. Our Youth Programs team created this opportunity to engage young adults in a thoughtful experience with various professionals in all industries.

This activity will enable youth to connect with professionals and ask questions. You will be receiving questions prior to the event to help guide your introduction and brief overview of your job/industry. Throughout the event, youth will have the opportunity to ask you questions verbally or in the chat. The event will conclude with a trivia game based on the insights you shared about your career or industry!

Volunteer Process

1. MATCHING: Volunteers are not required to volunteer outside of this one day and are not required to have panel experience. Volunteer groups or ERGs with diverse backgrounds encouraged to apply. Email Anton at atimms@uwba.org or express interest here.
2. TRAINING: Attend "day of" training which is built into the shift from 3:30-4pm. Once you sign-up, you will receive a calendar invite.
3. VOLUNTEER: Volunteers will start at 3:30pm on 3/22. You will be connected to students or the opportunity after your on-boarding.
