Mentor 17-year-old refugee from China in Allegan

We are looking for a female volunteer to mentor a 17-year-old refugee from China who is living in a foster home in Allegan. This youth arrived into Bethany's refugee foster care program in January of 2020. Her case manager shared, "She is adjusting well in her foster parent’s home. She is getting along with the foster parent’s children and another foster daughter. This youth has gone out with the other foster daughter to places. She connected well with another girl from school who was adopted from China, however, she wants to make her own friends. She only talks to her foster care sister and her friends." Another supportive adult and friend in this youth's life would be extremely helpful for her. Her English abilities are fair, but she would prefer a Mandarin-speaking mentor if possible.

This youth experienced physical abuse in her home in China. She is still in contact with her parents through weekly phone calls.
