The Akron Area YMCA is looking for special individuals to take on the role of Mentor in the after school Youth Development Program. Volunteering as a Mentor is a wonderful opportunity to enrich the lives of children living in our community through an education-based program including nutrition, recipe sampling, reading, physical activity, and other creative activities and games. Mentors volunteer approximately 3 hours each week and are provided with all materials, supplies, and training needed to create fun, positive, life-changing experiences for students. This rewarding opportunity is open to those in high school and beyond. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, punctual, and has a passion for helping children succeed in school and in life. Internships are available. If you are interested in becoming an Akron Area YMCA After School Program Mentor, please contact Jenna Messina, Youth Development Coordinator at 330-376-1335 ext. 1035 or jennam@akronymca.org.
