Who we want:
United Way for Greater Austin has partnered with foundations in Central Texas to promote robust participation in the 2020 Census. Making sure everyone participates it’s hugely important: it helps bring political representation and money to our communities! We are seeking a volunteer to support the Census 2020 Project Director with communication and event-planning needs. This volunteer will provide important support to our efforts to ensure everyone is counted in our community.

The volunteer will:

• Support event-planning needs for a series of Census Ambassador Trainings, including setting up, preparing materials and greeting attendants. The volunteer will also have opportunities to learn about all things related to the 2020 census, by participating in the trainings.
• Support with communication needs, e.g. drafting content for newsletters, social media posts, and other outreach materials.
• Search online for census outreach material already available.

What you will bring:

• Excellent communication, writing and organization skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive and willingness to learn other technology tools as needed.
• Ability to be focused and detailed, meet deadlines, be organized and effective.

Job Type: Volunteer
Starting Date: March
Hours per week: 4 to 10
Duration: Ideally from March - July, 2020, but open to a shorter time frame depending on the availability of the volunteer.
Volunteers hours: Variable based on person's schedule.

This volunteer opportunity is located in Austin, Texas and reports directly to the Census 2020 Project Director.
