The 2020 Census is launching in mid-March and has crucial economic and financial implications for the next ten years.
United Way is recruiting for a special 6-week volunteer opportunity (early March to mid-April) to ensure all people in our community are represented in this once-every-ten-years count. Volunteers will supercharge United Way’s Free Tax Preparation sites to be critical hubs for 2020 Census education and completion, or prepare taxes at our busiest sites.
How It Works:
- Find more information and sign-up at www.uwkc.org/taxvolunteer.
- Volunteers can choose a shift at any of the 33 locations throughout King County. Shifts are 3-4 hours long, and we ask volunteers to commit to one shift per week until mid-April, beginning the first week of March. Find a site near home, work, or school! Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
- No previous experience is required! United Way will provide training on February 29 th and March 1 st
How you can help:
- Become a Census and Benefits Navigator: help people get their tax paperwork in order, connect them to other financial services and help them understand and prepare for the 2020 Census Questionnaire, including how to accurately fill it out.
- Forward this opportunity to your networks, friends, family, neighbors, etc.
