As volunteer Cultivators, we cultivate student passions. In other words, we help children discover what they are naturally passionate to learn about and then continuously introduce learning opportunities to feed those excitements and make them highly skilled in their passions!

Our Approach:

Thiebaut Method is an after school program where struggling students become highly skilled in their passions. At TM, students work one-on-one with cultivators, independently, and in peer groups on projects inspired by their passions that develop creative and practical skills. TM is a place where "learning" and "fun" are synonymous and students get really good at doing what they love!

How Cultivators are prepared:

We've designed a volunteer Cultivator support system that ensures Cultivators are assigned to and assisted by a full-time Program Specialist who is expert in our approach and understands how to support them in such a dynamic after school program.

The basics of Cultivator include:

  1. Working with K-8 students on passion projects after school from 3pm - 6pm.
  2. Complete a Cultivators training that teaches you how to cultivate student passions.
  3. Meet your Program Specialist to make sure you have the full time support of an expert every week you Cultivate.
  4. Use our thousands of learning activities and books to plan your passion projects.

Other cool parts of being a Cultivator:

  1. No experience needed - We will train, support, and certify you in our new teaching approach after 1 month.
  2. Efficient lesson planning - Your Program Specialist will prepare your learning activities for you or if you're stuck!
  3. Volunteering in an exciting environment, creative and collaborative environment.
