At Giving Forward, we create programs and technology platforms which: generate social impact through marketing, advertising, publishing, events or commerce. Revenue is derived largely from monetization of the time and attention of consumers engaged in great, fun and informative content. We are looking for a programmer to help us develop our site and tools further.
- Responsibilities:
- Wordpress theme modifications and other and custom coding (LAMP/PHP/CSS)
- Custom front and back end web-based coding including use of Go(lang), Python, Redis, and various database types.
- App development
- Browser plugin development
- Qualifications: We love coders that have a passion for code and do so in their spare time. Good foundation in CS is great, but some of the best coders we've met have been self-taught or had to learn coding as part of their other areas of interest, for example, Physics, Math or other sciences. Some just learned to code by themselves. Be able to illustrate your passion for building things in code.

Description
Before Giving Forward, there was We-Care, a for-profit cause marketing company.
2007: Kevin Lee and David Pasternack co-founders of Didit launch We-Care.com a for-profit eCommerce cause marketing platform. We-Care’s "Shop with Purpose" platform launched with Amazon and 1700+ other merchants.
2018: Seeking to apply the cause marketing model to online publishing, Kevin Lee, Dave Pasternack and Didit bid on Gawker with the intent to pivot the defunct website into Gawker for Good ( Ad Age article). In the final Gawker.com bankruptcy auction, Didit loses Gawker to Bryan Goldberg at Bustle (BDG).
2019: The founding Board of Directors start Giving Forward, to deploy the cause marketing powered publishing business model in a non-profit scenario. The mission to create programs and technology platforms which: generate social impact through marketing, advertising, publishing, events or commerce. Revenue is derived from advertising from great, fun and informative content. Another way of thinking about it is that consumers (a silly marketing term) "volunteer" their time and attention to Giving Forward brands which is converted into revenue for nonprofits.
