2020 Walk to End Alzheimer's - Auburn, AL (act.alz.org/eastalabama)
Position Overview:
The AIM-Advocacy Chair serves as the primary lead for recruiting Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) members throughout the Walk planning process and updates the committee on advocacy opportunities. The AIM-Advocacy Chair will assemble a Subcommittee to recruit new AIM members and advocates from all sectors of the community.Qualifications:
- Current or future Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) member.
- Willingness to support AIM and its mission.
- Knowledge of and interest in the Alzheimer’s Association and AIM legislative priorities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to ask others to join and donate to AIM.
- Understand and be comfortable communicating the role of AIM activities as the advocacy arm of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work with the Event Chair and Staff Partner to meet the goal of recruiting more than 50 percent of the Planning Committee to join AIM.
- Participate in AIM’s "Power of Ten" challenge, a program to recruit new AIM members, and encourage other committee members to take part as well.
- Work with chapter public policy staff to track new AIM members. Stay up-to-date on legislative priorities through alzimpact.org and the AIM newsletter.
- Attend and present at wrap-around events, including Volunteer Kickoff, Committee Orientation, Past Team Registration Event, Corporate Team Kickoff Party, Early Bird Check-In, and the Walk Celebration Party. Ensure AIM recognition at these events.
- Create and distribute personal touches to Team Captains and event sponsor contacts to promote AIM.
- Use your personal and professional network to recruit additional AIM members.
- Lead AIM/Advocacy initiative on Walk day and find day-of volunteers through public policy staff, ambassadors, or advocacy day volunteers
- Work to get local elected officials to Walk day.
