  • 1 person is interested

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is seeking volunteers for an organization that uses evidence-based approaches to help individuals affected by HIV or other infections by spreading education about these topics to local groups they are members of.

Purpose: To expand services in Washtenaw County to neighborhoods currently affected negatively by the opioid crisis.

Qualifications: A non-judgemental and open attitude toward substance use disorders, a willingness to be trained, and involvement in local social groups/organizations.

Location: We are looking for residents from the following areas- Saline, Pittsfield Township, Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township, to assist us in this expansion.

Training: Those community members interested in volunteering will receive a one-day training focused on Harm Reduction theory as well as training in evidence-based interventions currently in use.

Tasks: After completing the training, it is expected that those volunteers will go back to their neighborhoods and engage their neighbors and other local social groups (ie. Knights of Columbus, 4-H, etc.) with accurate information about harm reduction in general. We would also like for those volunteers to seek out training opportunities for those organizations as well if there is an interest.

Benefits:

  • Training from helpful staff
  • Flexible schedule - just let us know when you will be out
  • Volunteer liability insurance to supplement your own medical and auto insurance
  • Invitation to volunteer recognition events
  • Meet like-minded people, make friends, build connections
  • Feel good knowing you are doing a good deed

Volunteers must be age 55 or better to apply. Provide your phone number when applying.Email rsvp@csswashtenaw.org or call (734) 971-9781 ext. 364
