Volunteers are the heart of hospice care!

First Health Hospice is currently looking for Patient Companion Volunteers to visit with patients in the Franklin area. Being a Patient Companion Volunteer is a great role for individuals who:
- are looking for direct experience with patients and families (future doctors, nurses, social workers, etc.)
- are highly compassionate, good listeners, sociable, and empathetic
- would like to learn more about how hospice works
- would like opportunities to help families in need in their community
- enjoy sharing conversations, hobbies, games, and other interests with others

Patient Companion volunteers may serve in a variety of different roles, depending on their interests, skills, and availability, including (but not limited to):
- engaging in consistent visits with patients
- playing games, making crafts, writing stories, reading, or otherwise engaging patients and their families
- providing a comforting listening presence
- etc.

Hospice care gives patients and their loved ones comfort, dignity, social support, symptom management, personal care, and opportunities to live the best life they can, in spite of facing life-limiting illness. Volunteers play an important role in ensuring our patients are able to live their lives to the fullest.

Training is provided for all volunteers and we will work with your schedule!
Opportunities for advanced volunteer training is also available to interested volunteers.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to serve the community with the highest quality of home health and hospice care possible so that individuals and their families under our care can continue to live in comfort and peace.

Description

Our Story

First Health Homecare and Hospice, Inc. was founded in 2006 with compassion and care for patients in mind. Our hospice was formed after one of our own company’s administrator’s father was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive form of brain cancer that unfortunately took his life too soon. After this experience, we wanted to give the care that we expected ourselves and give that same experience back to the community.

Who We Are

First Health Homecare and Hospice, Inc. is a home health and hospice care provider based in Southfield, MI. Our team members dedicate themselves to helping patients and their families with their health care needs in the comfort and privacy of their home. We believe that each individual deserves respect and human dignity despite what they go through-and it’s for this reason that we provide care tailored to our clients’ needs and preferences.

Our Core Values

The individuals and families we serve matter to us-not because it is our responsibility but because we find it fulfilling to make a difference in each of their lives.
