Engineering Expo is an event with hands-on STEM activities for K-8 students. We need volunteers to help kids with the activities. We'll need help on the 27th setting up the booths and on the 28th to support the booths and cleanup at the end of the day.
It is with heavy hearts we must inform you that the Society of Women Engineers is cancelling this year’s Engineering Expo event that was originally scheduled for March 28th. Sedgwick County officials announced a ban on all events larger than 250 people due to the rapid spread of COVID-19. This impacts us directly. We understand the disappointment and frustration this may cause, but we believe that public health is of the utmost importance. We appreciate all of our sponsors, volunteers, and supporters and we hope to see you on April 17th, 2021 for next year’s Engineering Expo event.

Mission Statement
As the flagship event for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Wichita Professional Section, the FREE Engineering Expo has been igniting the imaginations of girls and boys via a spectrum of STEM-related concepts and hands-on activities since 1998. STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math. We focus on enabling the next generation to explore STEM as an avenue to understand the world around them and explore the art of the possible.
Description
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Wichita section was chartered in 1982 by a dynamic group of eight women, and has since grown to over 50 members. SWE is a non-profit organization made up of both men and women who are dedicated to making known the need for women engineers and encouraging young women to consider an engineering education. The local section strives to create a balanced environment that blends members’ personal and professional lives. By sharing the mission and goals of the Society of Women Engineers, additional opportunities are created for the local section to help make a difference.
