Housecall Providers

Housecall Providers: Improving Lives by Bringing Healthcare Home.

Housecall Providers
is an innovative medical nonprofit providing primary care and hospice services to Portland’s homebound seniors and people with disabilities. Housecall Providers currently has volunteer opportunities available for compassionate individuals who have a desire to make a profound difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Housecall Providers volunteers bring comfort to patients who are nearing the end-of-life and offer a calm presence to those afflicted with dementia or Alzheimer’s. No human being should be left to feel isolated and alone during times of need. Yet all too often, people pull away. Volunteers provide respite to caregivers (usually a three hour shift) or an hour-long friendly visit to provide compassion, presence, and support once a week.

Potential volunteers must complete three comprehensive evening training sessions prior to making visits and also have the opportunity to receive ongoing education and support throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to learn about the challenges involved in caring for an increasingly aging population.

Upcoming Training Session:
The next volunteer training will take place at the Housecall Providers offices in Portland’s John's Landing area (near the South waterfront) and sessions are as follows:

  • Monday 2/9/20 - 6pm to 9:30pm
  • Wednesday 2/11/20 - 6pm to 9:30pm
  • Monday 2/16/20 - 6pm to 9:30pm

If this sounds like the volunteer experience you have been searching for, we would like to hear from you! Please contact volunteer coordinator, Todd Lawrence for more information or to begin the process at tlawrence@housecallproviders.org or 971-202-5515.

Volunteers are needed throughout the Portland Metro Area - but particularly in Gresham, Troutdale, Oregon City, Happy Valley, Milwaukie, West Linn, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Tigard, Aloha, Hillsboro, Wilsonville, and Forest Grove.
