About Phoenix Family

Location:

3908 Washington, Kansas City, MO 64111, US

Mission Statement

Phoenix Family empowers people living in low-income housing communities with the on-site support they need to gain stability and achieve self-sufficiency.

Description

A stable, safe home holds enormous possibilities for a low-income family striving to chart a more secure and hopeful future. With an average household income of just $11,743, Phoenix Family’s residents are often just one crisis away from becoming homeless. And, like millions of low-income individuals across the United States, they need more than housing to build personal and financial assets and overcome barriers to success - they also require services where they live.

Volunteers are vital in helping Phoenix Family reach our mission of helping people and changing lives. Last year, we received support from more than 350 volunteers, but even this is not enough to meet all the needs in our community. Whether you are looking for a seasonal or regular opportunity as an individual or a group, Phoenix Family offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to help our community.

Phoenix Family’s Youth Development, Families First and Senior Empowerment Programs provide those critical on-site services that help residents learn skills and gain perspectives that keep dreams of stability and hope realities for the future.

Phoenix Family’s staff and programs rely on trust, rapport, choice and convenience to engage residents in services. All services delivered are culturally appropriate and based on the desired outcomes of residents, including increased disposable income, increased educational levels, improved health, and strengthened social networks.
