Volunteer Position Description

Vice President (VP) Education is a broad role that works collaboratively with III VPs and Program Chairs to develop curriculum and evaluation; program presentations; program marketing; educational strategy and structure. The VP Education oversees Instructors and Mentors to ensure training requirements are met and serves as an education resource for marketing, programs and volunteers.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Enable an engaging, supportive and positive learning experience in which participants are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills.
  • Supervise and train volunteers, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Demonstrate success in team building and personnel development with an emphasis on collaboration and shared decision-making.
  • Interrelate and operate effectively with peers within a collegial work environment.
  • Build digital presentations (via tools such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Dropbox, etc.)
  • Be a polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills who exhibits positive leadership through coaching and relationship management.
  • Maintain communication with team members and VPs to collaborate educational program goals, strategies, awareness, and corroborate regarding needs and processes.
  • Represent the programs to external stakeholders and the Board.
  • Recommend and execute a plan to achieve program sustainability and growth.
  • Attend monthly virtual working Board meetings as well as regular team virtual meetings to keep volunteers informed of decisions and developments.
  • Develop and oversees educational program(s) budget in coordination with the Treasurer.

Collaborative Roles and Responsibilities

Working in partnership with Program Chairs, the VP Education will:

  • Co-write and execute curriculum development. Organize and implement education programs which include Mentoring 4 Impact and Disability Awareness Training.
  • Actively oversee operation of the program(s), in coordination with the Chair(s), Project Manager, and Support team. Serve as the Board point person.
  • Guide the development and implementation of strategic plan priorities and action plans for programs.
  • Assist Chair(s) with New York City onsite management, instructional guidance, and operational assistance with volunteers and students.
  • Review an ongoing evaluation of processes and procedures for continuous program improvement.

Working in partnership with the VP Marketing and VP Human Resources, the VP Education will:

  • Create and maintain list of educational and leadership books to read, editing content for website.
  • Write educational articles and suggest images for the online newsletter and social media campaigns.
  • Assist marketing by providing information for targeted campaigns.
  • Assist with outreach to recruit and interview volunteers, instructors, and mentors.
  • Collaboratively work with internal and external partners to reinforce program exposure and impact.

Working in partnership with the VP Development, the VP Education will:

  • Coordinate outreach to develop partnerships with community, educational, business and professional groups. Prepare and make presentations to groups or organizations as needed.
  • Serve as an organization liaison to colleges and universities; articulate and promote program mission.
  • Coordinate with the VP Development on outreach to corporate sponsors, grantors, and donors.

VOLUNTEER POSITION DETAILS:

  • Term: Long Term (Two years)
  • New York Metro area based candidates required.
  • Time commitment: 20-30 virtual hours per month; may include weeknights and/or weekend virtual meeting times.
  • Attend monthly virtual board meeting.

  • Must be willing to complete a background check
  • Must supply three references

Image Impact’s mission is to mentor college students with disabilities in career readiness. Our programs help college students with disabilities to prepare for their chosen career and successfully attain jobs or internships upon completion of our mentoring and job-search preparedness workshop program.
