MISSION OF UNITED WAY 211:
United Way 211 receives nearly 100 calls a day for help finding food, shelter, rent and utilities assistance, aging and disability resources, and more. 211 calls are answered by volunteers, who listen, empathize, and connect people with community resources and services to help. To support this effort, 211 works closely with social service agencies in the area to maintain a database of over 1,500 community resources.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The main objective of this project is to re-contact United Way 211 clients who gave us permission to follow-up on the outcome of their initial call by filling in a simple survey. Shifts are flexible and comprise about a two-hour time commitment per week.

TRAINING:
- Training Session (approximately 30 minutes)
- Follow-Up Observation and "Buddy Shift" (30 minutes)
- Volunteer Meetings/In-services (3 or 4 per year)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Desire to strengthen the community
- Ability to interview and respond to clients in a supportive and empathetic manner
- Interest in communicating with people of diverse backgrounds and situations
- Ability to multi-task
- Proficiency in internet navigation and good computer skills
VOLUNTEER HOURS:
- About 2 hours a week, flexible times
