Change the life of a homeless Middle school or high school student

There are approximately 40,000 homeless students in Washington State and over 200 in Gig Harbor, Port Orchard and Key Peninsula. Harbor Hope Center has developed a Host Home Program to love, house, and mentor these homeless children. The goal of this program is to house and help these students complete their education and provide life-skills needed to become self-sufficient; thus, ending their cycle of homelessness.

Harbor Hope Center is a private non-profit established to serve homeless minors that are attempting to complete their education. We also provide mentoring to at-risk students. We serve the greater Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula communities.

HOST HOME PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • A typical host home is a private home with a compassionate person or family who wants to make a difference in the life of a homeless student by providing a home and parenting oversight.
  • An extensive intake procedure and background check is conducted on all students and Host Home providers to assure a safe environment for the student and the host(s).
  • A Host Home/student match meeting is conducted to assess compatibility before any commitment is made by the student or host home. Ongoing support is provided for Host Home provider and student.
