Social isolation due to the Covid-19 Shelter-in-place orders has an immediate impact on seniors causing greater loneliness. You can help combat this by volunteering as a Remote BINGO caller!
Volunteer to call BINGO for low income seniors. We are looking for a volunteer who can speak Cantonese to help call Bingo over the phone to a small group of seniors. The BINGO game is for an hour on Thursday afternoons, 1:00-2:00 PM. The volunteer will facilitate BINGO games, and socialize with residents. Our service Coordinator will manage all of the technology, so all you need is to answer the phone at 1pm and be prepared to call BINGO. This is a great opportunity to build community and keep our residents active!

Description
The purpose of the SAHA's Volunteer Program is to improve the quality of living and promote health and well-being for Satellite Housing's residents. Volunteers will help foster community by facilitating activities for the residents, such as exercise groups, art classes, discussion groups, providing health and wellness information, leading or participating in games, assisting with special events, etc. The residents really appreciate the effort that is put forth by the volunteers, and look forward to the weekly interactions.

- Orientation or Training
- 1 hour/week. 4 month commitment.
- Ongoing SAHA Community Volunteers must commit to volunteer once a week for a minimum of 4 months, and must complete a volunteer orientation, volunteer forms and background screening prior to beginning their placement.
