Help us provide needed resources for CPS elementary students in the Avondale neighborhood through support of "Noche de Encanto," an annual benefit for Linne School. By volunteering at Noche de Encanto - Annual Benefit, Silent Auction & Raffle, you will help make a positive difference in the development of our youth and the local community. There are many different times and options to volunteer, but we really need help with our Zero Waste initiative!

Mission Statement

The Friends of Carl Von Linne School promotes and support cultural, educational and enrichment programs for the Avondale community and assists Carl Von Linne Elementary by raising funds for programming and purchases not covered by the school's operating budget. FCVL has supported the Fine Arts, Culinary, Sports, Coding and After-school programs as well as providing family and friends with opportunities to socialize with other Linne School families and members of our local community.

Description

Our Organization

The Friends of Carl Von Linné School (FCVL) holds annual fundraising galas. In 2020 and 2021, the FCVL took a pause from hosting the gala due to the spread of Covid-19. Now that our kids have returned to school, many of the programs that we help support have also resumed. In order to continue to support the programs we will be hosting a smaller, yet impactful fundraising event in the spring.

Our School

Carl Von Linné Elementary is a Chicago Public School (CPS) located in the Avondale neighborhood on Chicago’s northwest side. Even though the neighborhood has experienced gentrification in recent years, Linné’s current enrollment is 610 students, with 62% identifying as low income, and nearly 30% identifying as limited English learners. The school supports the students in the neighborhood by providing all students with the opportunity to enroll in the Dual Language Immersion Program. The program allows all students to develop bilingualism and biliteracy in English and Spanish, have sociocultural competence, all with high levels of academic achievement. The school’s mission of "educating the whole child" uses the fine arts program we fundraise for to support and develop a vision of high quality academic programs that contribute to the intellectual, physical, and emotional well-being of the students.
