Silver Lining Mentoring

COVID-19 Update: Our entire screening process can now be done from home! At SLM, we are persevering through distance limitations, and identifying important resources foster youth need to cope with the COVID-19 emergency. We are still accepting mentors for our programs.

Our mentees (ages 7- 23) want to be with a mentor who can identify with their own racial and cultural background (i.e. Black and/or Latinx) and they share things in common. We're looking for genuine and real people who can meet our youth where they're at. You don't need to be perfect, you just need to be open and willing to be a great friend to a young person. In this time of uncertainty, it is so important that we continue to create community and strengthen bonds. You can now watch our recorded info session and start your journey with Silver Lining Mentoring! Fill out this short form and the video and application will be sent to you.

Mission Statement

Silver Lining Mentoring empowers foster and adopted youth to flourish through committed mentoring relationships.

Description

Silver Lining Mentoring is the only mentoring organization in Massachusetts that exclusively serves youth in foster care. Founded in 2001, Silver Lining empowers foster youth in Greater Boston to flourish through committed mentoring relationships and the development of essential life skills. We provide long term one-to-one mentoring and life skills development for young people who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Our volunteer mentors are often the only adults in our youth’s lives who are not paid to spend time with them.
