ALPHA House if seeking motivated volunteers to join our Butterfly Ball planning Committee. We are interested in dedicated volunteers to attend our planning meetings to help us secure sponsors for our event and help with all the bells and whistles its takes to put on an amazing gala!
Meetings are held monthly and weekly as the event draws more near.

Mission Statement

The primary mission of ALPHA is to provide housing and supportive services to homeless pregnant teenagers and women, so that they can become mothers with the job skills, education, parenting skills, positive self-esteem, and spiritual foundation necessary for them to obtain permanent housing, successfully raise their children, and contribute to the community.

The secondary missions of ALPHA are to provide supportive services to new mothers with infants and to families experiencing crisis pregnancies, and to raise community awareness of the needs of pregnant women.

Description

Admission Criteria

ü Homeless

ü Pregnant or has a child 9 months or younger (cannot be pregnant and have another child)

ü No substance or alcohol use for 6 months ( Must test negative at time of admission)

ü No mental health or behavioral issues that would impair progress in the program.

ü Able to work or attend school.

Things to Know

ü Not an emergency placement facility

ü If a case manager or family member of an adultcalls, please ask them to have the actual client call to refer herself to the program.

ü Bed availability changes rapidly

ü Counselor, case managers, and directors are available to assist you at any time.

PROCEDURE

  1. 1. Jennifer or Sue will take and complete an initial screening form to determine eligibility for the program.
  2. 2. If candidate meets criteria:

i. An applicant interview session will be scheduled and the referral form placed in the respective counselor’s box.

ii. All counselors will schedule their new admissions per their schedule and when time permits.

iii. Counselors will present applicant at Intake Staffing Meeting and coordinate move in or waiting list timeframe. If applicant is not accepted she will be referred to another program.

iv. Screening form will go back to Jennifer or Sue with results from Intake Staffing Meeting.

v. Janice will submit waiting list applicant into the SAMIS system.

  1. 3. If candidate does not meet criteria:

i. An applicant will be informed as to why she does not meet criteria for the program

ii. Referrals will be provided to applicant

iii. Reason for disqualification and referrals made will be documented on referral form.
