We are so excited that you are interested in our YMCA Special Needs Drive N' Dunk program! Our Drive n' Dunk program provides an opportunity for participants to make a new friend and learn the basic fundamentals of basketball skills (Passing, shooting, dribbling, working as a team). All participants are paired with a volunteer buddy for the duration of the modified basketball class. Drive N' Dunk runs for 6 consecutive Saturdays and is guided by Recreational Therapists - Adaptive Sports Directors. We also have an award ceremony at the last class. Mission Statement
The mission of the YMCA of South Florida is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
Description
The YMCA of South Florida is part of the YMCA of the USA, the largest not-for-profit community service organization and second largest charity in America.
Serving the Greater Miami area since 1916, the YMCA has programs for kids, families and the community from the Miami-Dade/Broward County line south to the Upper Keys. Programs are held in schools, parks, recreation centers, and at our 4 YMCA Family Centers and our 3 preschools.
All YMCA programs are designed to build the core character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The YMCA is for people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes. Our goal is to turn no one away. Our strength is in the people we bring together.
The YMCA is volunteer-lead, with an all volunteer Board of Directors. Financial assistance is available, thanks to the support of the community for the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign. Additional support for children and families to participate include grants from community partners, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.
