Art in the Park is Art Spark TX's annual hands-on arts festival for students with mixed abilities. This grassroots festival has been around for over 25 years and truly captures the spirit of Austin with its combination of the arts, the outdoors, and access for the entire community. Hosted by Art Spark Texas (formerly VSA Texas) and McBeth Recreation Center.

"Art in the Park" includes art booths, live music, and performances on an outdoor stage. Over 600 children and young adults with and without disabilities attend this festival each year.

We are looking for people to host hands-on art making activities, perform or just help out with set up and take down as general staff.

Mission Statement

Art Spark Texas challenges perceptions of how people contribute by creating an arts-inspired, inclusive community of individuals with diverse abilities.

Description

Art Spark Texas, a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit, delivers excellent cultural, professional, educational and public awareness arts services to communities with diverse abilities.

Arts experiences enhance the skills, confidence and quality of life for people with disabilities. We support this by offering programs that enable educational achievement and career success, events that feature the work of our artists, and specialized arts training for artists, educators and service providers.

Recognizing that every person has a voice that deserves to be heard, Art Spark Texas partners with supporters, volunteers, community organizations, educators, and state and local governments across Texas to promote and facilitate people with and without disabilities working together to create inclusive and strong communities.
