Literacy Network

Our Adult Basic Education (ABE) group tutoring program focuses on helping local adults who struggle with low-literacy (reading/writing below an 8th grade level). Tutors help improve their basic reading/writing skills and VERY rudimentary computer skills (using email, filling out online forms, etc). (Please note: This is NOT an ESL program.) Once trained, you would attend a weekly 2-hour session to work one-on-one with your assigned student for the semester. Weekly lesson plans are provided, and a Session Leader is available every class to offer you and your student support as needed! Weekly sessions to choose from:

  • Tuesday mornings, 10:00-12:00noon at Literacy Network (701 Dane St)
  • Tuesday nights, 6:00-8:00pm at Hawthorne Library (2707 E. Washington Av)
  • Wednesday mornings, 10:30am-12:30pm at Literacy Network (701 Dane St)
  • Thursday nights, 6:00-8:00pm at Literacy Network (701 Dane St)
  • Thursday nights, 6:00-8:00pm at Meadowridge Library (5726 Raymond Rd)
