Patients and families facing chronic or life limiting illness often enjoy simple moments of pleasure or comfort. For many, that feeling comes from blankets that are made by loving hands and donated to Hosparus Health.
When a blanket is given to a patient, it is a gift to their family as well, something they can keep after the patient is no longer with them physically. The blankets provide special memories in addition to comfort and warmth.
We are looking for talented hands who would like to create blankets for patients in our care. No background check or application required!
Care blankets are generally placed across the foot of the bed (over the patient’s lower legs and feet) or across the lap when sitting - size should be about 3’ x 4’.
Care blankets should be clean, in new condition and from a non-smoking environment. NO perfumes or other scents of any kind.
Please use caution if you have pets - materials and finished Care blankets should be free from pet hair and smells.
Quilted, crocheted, or knitted blankets are welcome.
Individuals, homemaker groups, church groups and others are welcome to participate in the Care blanket program. Contact us if you'd like to join our team and support patients and families in our care.

Since 1978, Hosparus Health has provided hospice and advanced illness care to tens of thousands of patients and their families in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Started by volunteers, we’re a fully accredited not-for-profit with care teams nationally recognized and respected for their innovation and expertise addressing the most complex health issues. In addition to hospice and advanced illness care, we also offer grief counseling, respite care, and medication management.
