ORGANIZATION: Briscoe Western Art Museum

Volunteers will implement fun activities and games that will need guidance and demonstration while assisting other volunteers to do activities with kids (Ages 6-12). The activities are arts and crafts and hands on education programming.

The Volunteer Coordinator or Education Coordinator will train and give instructions to all volunteers. If the volunteer needs assistance or support, the coordinator will step in to help and lead.

The program duties are engaging and a lot of fun. There is NO stress involved while performing or assisting throughout the event. The volunteers have FUN and you make a lot of friends.

*Refreshments will be provided for volunteers and their parking will be validated (no fee).*

Trails & Tales Story time - The activities provided below will tie back into the stories (Monday - Thursday: A different book each day)

  • Lego Animation (Monday)
  • Leathering Stamping - Name Tags (Monday)
  • Model Magic - Re-enact sculptures around the museum (Tuesday)
  • Drawing - Creating a comic (Tuesday)
  • Seed Pods - Texas Wild Flowers (Wednesday)
  • Museum Scavenger Hunt - Tracking Animals around the museum (Wednesday)
  • Red Clay Pottery - Indian Bowl (Thursday)
  • Monochromatic Drawing - McNut Garden (Thursday)
  • Paint - Water Colors (Friday)
  • Movie - An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (Friday)
  • Recognition Certificate - 2020 Lil Partners Spring Break Completed (Friday)
  • Tales of the West - Story time (Monday - Thursday: A different book each day)

Description

The Briscoe Western Art Museum showcases historic and contemporary art and artifacts that highlight the American West. The Museum is housed in San Antonio's 1930's central library building, beautifully restored to its original glory. Vaquero, American Indian, and Cowboy narratives come to life through painting sculpture, photography, and exquisitely crafted artifacts.
