The 2020 Shoot for the Moon event will be held at Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN on March 7 th, 2020, this will be the 9 th annual event for our foundation. The event draws over 1500 attendees and includes games/prizes, merchandise, dancers, and a silent auction. It is a family-centric event that shares Mary’s story of fighting cancer, communicates awareness of the struggles children and their families endure during hospitalization, and generates revenue for our foundation to support our cause.
**We seek volunteers to help direct event participates to event activities, answer questions, staff activity booths, and help tear down the event at 1:30 - 2:30
Our foundation provides items such as arts and crafts supplies, toys, games, movies, and other entertainment and educational items to hospitals and hospice care for families and their hospitalized children. Just imagine your small child in a hospital room for 9 weeks. How would you keep them physically engaged, cognitively growing, and avoid frustration in a confined area? There are many children today that are in hospital rooms for weeks or months. Having a variety of activities available is essential to help children endure treatment and the lengthy stay. Our services augment the entertainment and educational resources families have available while their child is hospitalized. Through our fundraising efforts, we also bring awareness to the burden families have while fighting for their child’s life, and the ways we can all help others in our communities.

Mission Statement
The Mary Moon Foundation - Helping hospitalized children feel "over the moon" with essential childhood activities. Our mission is to conduct fundraising events to help finance art supplies, toys and games for the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital to help children enjoy life as much as every child should. We support critically ill children and their families by providing the hospital with additional resources to ease the enormous strain and effort on children and their families during the period of hospitalization. As a family that lost their daughter to cancer, Peter and Christine O’Keefe created the foundation to help support future families and their children in ways they were fortunate to be supported.
Description
Our goals are to support the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital and other organizations servicing the needs of hospitalized children fighting critical diseases or in a children’s hospice program. Through our support those organizations can assist children and families with additional comfort and help filling their short lives with as much joy as possible. Our fundraising efforts help supply a variety of items to keep hospitalized children at ease and mentally growing during their time of treatment. We help supplement the lack of resources families have during times of duress while fighting serious childhood diseases. Our support typically provides items such as arts and crafts supplies, toys, games, movies, and other entertainment and educational items.
